From Our Church

We are a small, country church on a knoll in the historic village of Hazen, White Township, just outside of Belvidere.  Corn fields, apple orchards and a bubbling stream surround us.

 

We are a growing congregation, on whom God has smiled. Our congregation covers many generations, among which are people of every stage of faith. We welcome those seeking God and His truths, regardless of questions, baggage, or plain old life experiences.

 

Whatever you're looking for...you mean something to God. As God's church, you mean something to us. You are always welcome here.

 About Our ChurchFree Grace

The First Presbyterian Church of Oxford at Hazen is one of the oldest active churches in Warren County, NJ.  Our congregation was founded in 1729 and our first church was built in 1744. Our present church building was constructed in 1856.  Read more....

Welcome From Pastor Sherry

We are a small congregation with a big heart and a love for one another that is rare in this world.  We have an amazing choir and an extraordinary choir director, who fill our sanctuary with joyful sounds.

 

Our ongoing missions include The Freedom House, DARCC, NORWESCAP Food Bank, Safe Harbor, Warren Haven, Columbia Truck Stop Ministry and Food Baskets for Shut-ins.

 

We love to eat, and we gather after services on the last Sunday of the month to share lunch and fellowship.  Our Chicken Barbecues Sales are famous in the area and we offer our gifts and talents to the community with our Spring and Fall Sales.

 

Our Adult Socials on the second Friday evening of the month bring members from both the First Oxford and Delaware congregations together for more good food, discussions and warm fellowship.

 

The Men's Breakfast Fellowship meets on the fourth Saturday morning of every month, alternating between Hazen and Delaware.

 

Children's Sunday School is held at Delaware every Sunday morning at 9:00AM, and this year we are focusing on stewardship and serving one another.

 

Bible Study at the Columbia Truck Stop on Tuesday evenings provides an opportunity to share the Word of God with truckers, travelers and members of our congregations.

Family Worship Community

"Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

(Deut. 11:19)

 

This passage is indicative of the Bible's intention that children be taught by their parents about the things of God. Parents who take this responsibility seriously not only strengthen their own families but their churches as well. Those who lead their families well are those who will lead their churches well.

News of Note
Our First Annual Hazen History Days was a huge success!  It was held the first weekend of October and included graveyard tours, genealogy information and food on Saturday, and a Celebration of Hazen's Heroes of the Faith on Sunday.  Thanks to all who made this happen, and to all who attended!
